It is a late 1972 (oct) productionmaking it an actual 1973. Very nice original 1973 datsun 240z ready forrestoration or daily driver with a little tuning. I acquired this z about 5years ago from the central california valley. It had been sitting for 6+ years. After sitting in my garage for the past 5 years i finally started tinkering withit. New gas, changed the oil, adjusted valves, new starter, ignition switch,clutch master and slave cylinder. Started right up drove it around the block,transmission seemed fine as are brakes but it will need some carburetor work andfine tuning to be road worthy, and new tires etc. They hold air but are 10+years old. Compression check ranged from 150 to 160 on all cylinders it is anumbers matching engine. It has had a white repaint at some time and it is anoriginal white car. Upholstery is clean but not original. All body panels andglass appear to be original and firewall vin matches strut tower and dash vinand as far as i can tell it has never been in an accident and no bondo present. Things that need attention are; carbs, they appear to be the original smogequipped flat top hitachis which i heard are pretty hard to tune properly so ihaven't attempted yet. Headlights don't work (not sure why, fuses areok) rust in rear quarter panels in front of rear wheels and rear hatch panel ( iwill include new patch panels as in pictures) also a little surface rust and alittle rust in floorboards and a pillars as shown in pics. Missing one hubcap and no spare. Needs wiper arms but wipermotor works fine as does heater and gauges. Clock does not work and some dashan.

I have owned this vehicle for the last 5or so years and i believe its time to let her go. I am very limited on timeand the datsun just does not get the attention it deserves. The vehicle justspends 95 percent of its days sitting at home looking pretty and is lucky to bedriven to work once a month. She is very solid with no rust she starts right upevery time time! She runs excellent and all gears go in properly without grinds. Car has a one of a kind front fiberglass bumper that replaced the big metalfront one. Rear bumper has also been shaved and makes it look very slick, paintis obviously not original. Engine is the fuel injected l28e connected to the 5speed manual transmission. Interior is in good shape in exception of thedashboard which has several cracks on it. All glass is in excellent shape withno cracks and both windows roll up/down car is slightly lowered on eibach sportsprings which gives it an aggressive look. Car has no leaks nor does it smoke. Suspension is also very responsive and feels very solid. Vehicle is a real headturner and gets complimented every time i drive it.

The car is essentially 100% original: motor, transmission, suspension, dash. Recently serviced with new fluids, brakes, battery, fuel and oil filters, and injector flush. I purchased the car with 8,000 miles on it, and had the old canvas top removed and the body changed to the "speedster" style Air Conditioning

Originally blue, the body received an older color change to the failing two-stage green seen here. There was earlier front end damage sustained in the past which did not appear to affect the bumper or main chassis rails, but the core support could use some better hammer/dolly work for a better appearance. The car is mostly stock, and recent work included installation of a new fuel pump and clutch hydraulics along with a brake service, fluid flush, and oil change, to make it useful as a running and driving restoration project
